Laugh pants at the ready! We’re back for our first comedy night of 2018. Join us at the much loved and irrevocably doomed Seven Miles Out on Thursday 1st February for the first of our ALIS exit trilogy.
In the early years of ALIS few comedians received a better reception or dug us out of a hole more often than Chris Brooker. A comedy heavy hitter, his viking-like appearance belies a warm, enthusiastic and quick-witted performer adept at thinking on his feet. Some of you may also know Chris as the man at the helm of Stockport’s FutureShock Wrestling shows at the Guildhall, and also from his appearances on WrestleTalk TV. We’re delighted to welcome back this man of many talents to A Laugh In Stockport.
“Very funny, very quick… On the spot humour.” BBC
“A fitting finale, had the audience in stitches.” StudentOnline
“The best act of the night, his quick wit silencing hecklers and getting plenty of laughs.” Manchester Evening News
Opening the show we have Kate McCabe. An American now resident in the UK, Kate cut her teeth on the NYC comedy scene and blends the observational with the ridiculous.
“She talks about untouched topics, and by that I don’t mean close-to-the-bone subjects, I mean properly untouched topics like Beatrix Potter and gravy.” Jim Meehan, The Skinny
In the middle bit we welcome back Tom Lawrinson, a relative newcomer who delivered a storming set on his ALIS debut a couple of years ago, plus at least one more act who will either be someone new or an established act with some new material.
We haven’t been idle over the Christmas break. We have been engaged in painstaking contractual negotiations with Danny Sutcliffe and we are delighted to confirm that he has agreed to come down from his shed roof to once again take up the reigns as our resident compère. We’re delighted to have him back.
